How deep is The Pacific ocean 10 miles (16 km.) off San Diego, California?

On a recent voyage aboard a recreational fishing boat we sailed 10 miles (16 km.) off the coast of San Diego, California. My friend asked me how deep was the ocean at such point to which I answered about 1000' (300 m.) obviously my answer was a total guess! :) Do you think my guess was correct or at least close enough?!
